Here's the complete list of books I read in 2008. My goal for the year was 208 books; I actually read 225 (plus one novella), so I exceeded the goal (which I met around 22 November) nicely.

The biggest categories were historical fiction (35, including historical mysteries and plays), fantasy (32, including gothic and ghost stories), mysteries (31), Newbery Medal winners (28, bringing my total thus far up to 70 of the 87), history (26) and SF (24). And 29 of the books were rereads.

My favourites? Tamar, by Mal Peet, was the best book I read all year, followed closely by Eifelheim, by Michael Flynn, and The Crossroads, by Chris Grabenstein. These fourteen (listed in the order in which I read them) were also very good:
